Not every white is pure #FFFFFF. Off-whites such as ivory, snow, linen and very light grays make backgrounds softer and help cards and sections stand apart.
Using white in web design
- Alternate pure white and an off-white (for example
#F8FAFC) to separate page sections without borders. - Warm whites (ivory, cream) suit editorial and lifestyle sites; cool whites suit tech products.
- On dark backgrounds, slightly dimmed white text (around
#E5E7EB) is easier on the eyes than pure white.
