EXIF Viewer & Remover: Remove GPS Location from Photos

View the EXIF data in a photo (camera, lens, settings, date and GPS location) and remove all metadata before sharing. JPEG cleaning is lossless and runs in your browser.

Drop an image here, paste from the clipboard, or

JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP or SVG. Files never leave your browser.

How to view and remove EXIF data

  1. Drop or choose a photo.
  2. Read the metadata: camera and lens, exposure, ISO, focal length, the date the photo was taken, and the GPS position if one is stored. A warning appears when the photo reveals a location.
  3. Press Remove metadata & download to save a clean copy.

What gets removed

  • JPEG: EXIF, XMP and IPTC blocks and comments are cut out of the file without re-encoding, so image quality is unchanged. The ICC color profile is kept so colors stay correct.
  • If a JPEG is stored rotated (orientation tag), it is turned upright and re-encoded at high quality, because removing the tag alone would make it appear sideways.
  • PNG: text, time and EXIF chunks are removed losslessly.
  • Other formats are re-encoded in the browser, which drops all metadata.

Why remove metadata?

Phones store the exact place a photo was taken. Sharing such a photo on a forum, marketplace or website can reveal your home address or daily routine. Many social networks strip this data, but websites, email and messaging apps often do not.

All processing happens in your browser. Your images are never uploaded to a server, so the tool works with private photos and keeps working offline once the page has loaded.
