How to compress images
- Drop one or more images on the box, paste one from the clipboard, or choose files.
- Pick an output format. "Same as original" keeps JPG and WebP and turns PNG into WebP, which is usually far smaller.
- Move the quality slider. Around 70โ80% is a good balance for photos on the web.
- Optionally set a max width: resizing a 4000 px photo to 1600 px saves more than any quality setting.
- Download each image, or everything as a ZIP file.
Tips for smaller images
- Serve images at the size they are displayed. A hero image rarely needs to be wider than 2000 px.
- Use WebP (or AVIF where supported) for photos; it is often 25โ35% smaller than JPEG at the same quality.
- Keep PNG for screenshots, logos and graphics with sharp edges and few colors.
- If a compressed file comes out larger than the original, the tool keeps the original automatically.
Smaller images load faster, improve Core Web Vitals such as LCP, and save mobile data. Need exact dimensions? Use the image resizer.
