Image Filters & Adjustments: Brightness, Contrast, Blur

Adjust brightness, contrast, saturation, hue, blur, grayscale, sepia and invert, try presets like vintage or black and white, download the edited image and copy the CSS filter.

Drop an image here, paste from the clipboard, or

JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP or SVG. Files never leave your browser.

How to edit an image

  1. Drop or choose an image.
  2. Start from a preset such as Vivid, Black & white, Vintage or Dramatic, or move the sliders yourself.
  3. Press and hold Hold to see original to compare before and after.
  4. Download the result at full resolution, or copy the filter CSS to apply the same look on your website without editing the file.

Image filters in CSS

Every adjustment maps to a CSS filter function: brightness(), contrast(), saturate(), hue-rotate(), blur(), grayscale(), sepia() and invert(). Combining them in one filter declaration is how hover effects such as "grayscale until hovered" work:

  • img { filter: grayscale(100%); } img:hover { filter: none; }
  • Filters are applied in the order written, so sepia() after saturate() gives a different result than before it.
  • Filters are GPU accelerated, but large blurs on many elements can still slow scrolling.

For a frosted-glass background effect instead, see the glassmorphism generator.

All processing happens in your browser. Your images are never uploaded to a server, so the tool works with private photos and keeps working offline once the page has loaded.
